About Us

MOEI

Professor Ian Holiday created MOEI in 2008. MOEI was initially formed to provide intensive English-language education for migrant children and adults from Burma located along the Moei River section of the Thai-Burma border. Since 2008 MOEI has expanded its reach to Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos & China. MOEI offers teaching opportunities that have a real impact. We firmly believe that young people can use education as a tool to break down any barriers that are holding them back.

Our team is made up of experienced project managers, team leaders, teachers, former volunteers and guides. The team has a wealth of experience in running successful projects throughout Asia.

In 2024 MOEI will run projects in Thailand & Cambodia. We will be recruiting volunteers from member universities that make up Universitas 21.

Our Partners

MOEI works in partnership with Universitas 21 and Experiential Learning Asia.

Universitas 21

MOEI will be recruiting volunteers from member universities that make up Universitas 21.

Universitas 21 (U21) is a unique global network that brings together 28 world-leading, research-intensive universities who share a common belief in the value of collaboration and internationalisation. From Belgium to Chile, South Korea to South Africa, their member-led initiatives and programmes are designed to benefit staff, students and member institutions, through sharing resources, learning together and co-designing solutions to our common challenges.

Experiential Learning Asia

Experiential Learning Asia (ELA) will be facilitating the MOEI program. ELA was founded by a MOEI participant who was part of the first cohort in 2008.

With over a decade of experience organizing and coordinating experiential learning programs within Southeast Asia, Experiential Learning Asia is in a unique position to facilitate any type of program that you wish to run. The ELA team know what’s needed to make your experiential learning, volunteering, team building or travel in South East Asia a success.
